Audition Procedures and Preparation
- Audition material is the Texas All-State etudes. Specific passages are chosen by the Youth Winds staff and posted below at the appropriate time. Note: ATSSB etudes are not allowed.
- Memorization of audition music is not necessary.
- Professional attire is encouraged.
Starting this season, the Lone Star Youth Winds will employ a condensed schedule to only four rehearsals for each concert cycle. Because of this, all rehearsal dates are mandatory to participate in the Lone Star Youth Winds. No exceptions will be allowed. Please check these dates before filling out the application.
Note: The Lone Star Youth Winds has a new rehearsal location! The Youth Winds host school will now be Carroll Senior High School in Southlake!
Friday, November 5, 2021– Application and Video Submissions Due
Wednesday, November 17, 2021 – Applicants notified of results
Monday, November 22, 2021– Deadline to accept roster invite, sign commitment, and pay tuition

The application process consists of an online application form with a video submission of your audition. There is a non-refundable, non-transferable application fee of $25.
Invitations to join the Lone Star Youth Winds will be sent out via email.
For those applicants selected to the Lone Star Youth Winds, a $425 tuition payment is required to complete the process and secure the student musician’s spot in the ensemble. The applicant’s tuition will be used for Lone Star Wind Orchestra operating expenses to provide the Lone Star Youth Winds with, among others, venue space to perform, mentors to give instruction and guest artists to enhance the student musician’s experience.
