The Lone Star Wind Orchestra (LSWO) is teaming up with Operation Kindness to bring you a concert filled with music about the animals we all love – from dogs to cats to the creatures of the jungle! Join the LSWO and Operation Kindness on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at the Eisemann Center in Richardson as the talented LSWO musicians bring you All Creatures Great and Small.
Featuring clarinetist Kimberly Cole Luevano and the University of Texas at Dallas dean Dr. Dennis Kratz narrating the popular Peter and the Wolf, Music Director and Conductor Eugene Migliaro Corporon and the LSWO will perform, Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, Karl King’s Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite, George Gershwin’s Walking the Dog, Scott McAllister’s Black Dog, Robert Spittal’s Scherzo: Cat and Mouse, Oscar Navarro’s The Fly, and Ferrar Ferran’s Jungla.
Come early and join Operation Kindness at 2:05 p.m. for an engaging education section. As a treat for our audience, Operation Kindness will also have dogs and cats at the Eisemann Center so you can adopt a furry little friend while enjoying the concert! Also, there will be a silent auction where you can bid on great items and perhaps receive a prize!
Operation Kindness is the original and largest no-kill shelter in North Texas. Operation Kindness has saved more than 80,000 animals over almost 40 years, with 4,387 animals in 2014 alone! Operation Kindness cares for approximately 300 animals on a day-to-day basis, with another 100 animals in foster homes. More than 3,000 dogs and cats are assisted by Operation Kindness each year. The mission of Operation Kindness is to care for homeless cats and dogs in a no-kill environment until each is adopted into responsible homes and to advocate humane values and behavior. Operation Kindness’ vision is a world where all cats and dogs have loving, responsible, forever homes.
“The LSWO is so thrilled to partner with Operation Kindness for this magnificent concert!” said Christopher Tucker, LSWO Director of Artistic Planning. “This concert will be fun for adults and kids of all ages.”
