Scholarships provide financial support for students to help pay for a college degree. These funds enable students to obtain education they may not have access to otherwise. They reward deserving students with the ability to afford higher education.
Eligibility
To be considered for a Lone Star Wind Orchestra scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- High school senior in good standing who will graduate this school year from a North Texas area high school.
- Active in your high school band program.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.
- Have received an acceptance letter or are in the process of enrolling as a full-time student at an accredited, post-secondary institution. (Acceptance letter(s) or enrollment request(s) must be uploaded as part of your application.)
- Ensure the Scholarship Selection Committee receives your official high school transcript on or before the application deadline. Applicants and their respective school administrator will receive email confirmation when a transcript has been received.
- Ensure your TWO (2) letters of recommendation are received by the Scholarship Selection Committee on or before the application deadline. Individuals submitting a letter on your behalf should submit their letter online.
- SUBMIT your completed scholarship application online, on or before April 16, 2026, 11 PM CDT.
- Scholarship recipients for 2026 must be physically present at both the 20th Anniversary VIP Brunch (Scholarship Presentation) on Saturday, May 2, 2026, 11 AM at Sammons Center for the Arts in Dallas and the “Soul Serene” Lone Star Youth Winds Concert (Scholarship Acknowledgement) on Sunday, May 10, 2026, 3 PM at Moody Performance Hall in Dallas, Texas. Failure to attend in person will automatically forfeit the award.
2026 Application Window
The Lone Star Wind Orchestra’s 2026 application window starts Monday, March 16, 2026. For each scholarship applicant, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra Scholarship Selection Committee (SSC) must receive a completed scholarship application through online submission by the deadline of Thursday, April 16, 2026, 11 PM CDT.
