LSWO performs at TBA for the second time in three years

San Antonio is “deep in the heart of Texas” with cultural attractions and history. Every July, college, high school and middle school wind band directors from all over the state, and even the country travel to San Antonio for the prestigious Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA) convention. The LSWO was the featured ensemble at the summer’s convention, July 25-27, 2010.

The Texas Bandmasters Association was formed in 1920 by a small group of Texas bandmasters to organize band contests and promote bands. Since that time, the association has evolved into the largest state band organization in the world. The Texas Bandmasters Association hosts the largest annual state bandmasters association convention in the country with over 6500 people in attendance, including 2400 band directors and more than 600 industry-related exhibit booths at the Annual TBA Convention/Clinic.

The Lone Star Wind Orchestra performed a varied program conducted by Music Director Eugene Migliaro Corporon and composer Frank Ticheli along with featuring guitarist Fred Hamilton. The program included:
Fiesta del Pacifico by Roger Nixon
Angels in the Architecture by Frank Ticheli
Chaos Theory by James Bonney
La Procession du Rocio by Joaquin Turina
Aurora Awakes by John Mackey
World premiere of San Antonio Dances by Frank Ticheli

The Lone Star Wind Orchestra previously performed at TBA July of 2008.
