Lone Star percussionist Megan Von Dreau honored as Carroll ISD Teacher of the Year for the 2008-2009 school year.
“Being Teacher of the Year in Carroll ISD is a humbling experience,” Von Dreau said, in an email to the Times. “I work everyday with remarkable, caring educators and staff members; any number of whom are deserving of an honor like this. In my years at Carroll, I have taught thousands of students and each one of them has helped to mold me into the educator I am today. We talk about the influence teachers have upon our students, but there is true beauty in the influence of those same students upon myself. They are the people who have taught me discipline and be strong, but also how to dance and laugh. Teaching is an art and I am learning every day. Thanks kids.”
