Event Details

For band fans and music lovers, join us for the first Lone Star Wind Orchestra concert of the new year!

The wind band has celebrated a special relationship with the symphony orchestra. Works written for orchestra have been reimagined for band and vice-versa, wind band works have found success as orchestra pieces. With composers Sir Malcolm Arnold, Dmitri Shostakovich, Lily Boulanger, and Leonard Bernstein, this concert takes famous orchestral works and removes the strings – a program of color and harmony for all to embrace!

Along with Dmitri Shostakovich’s Festive Overture and Sir Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances, the LSWO will celebrate the biopic release of Maestro with Leonard Bernstein’s Candide Overture. Another major highlight is honoring American composer Ron Nelson who passed away in December with the LSWO performing Rocky Point Holiday. The festivities and excitement will continue with Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ Variations for Wind Band and Andreas Makris’ Aegean Festival Overture.

The Lone Star Wind Orchestra under the direction of Music Director Eugene Migliaro Corporon will present NO STRINGS ATTACHED on Sunday, January 28th, 3 PM, at Moody Performance Hall in Dallas, TX.
