The LSWO Presents “Epic Tales: The Lord of the Rings & More”

Come, sit back, and listen to tall tales of mighty waterfalls, the one ring and more as the Lone Star Wind Orchestra (LSWO) presents Epic Tales: The Lord of the Rings & More on Sunday, January 26, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas.

Featuring Lay Family Organ resident organist Mary Preston, the LSWO will perform Michael Daugherty’s Niagara Falls and John Mackey’s The Frozen Cathedral. The LSWO will be the first to premiere The Frozen Cathedral with the organ! The program will also feature movements from Johan De Meij’s Symphony No. 1 The Lord of the Rings, Steven Bryant’s Ecstatic Fanfare, and John Williams/Lavender’s The Raider’s March. Our audience will also be the first to hear the world premiere of a new work, The Wild Goose, by Texas-based Ryan George, who will be in attendance at the concert! The LSWO will be led by Music Director and Conductor Eugene Migliaro Corporon.

Come early and join the LSWO Tuba and Euphonium section at 7:05 p.m. to learn how they provide the bass lines for the wind orchestra.

The audience will also be treated to works of actor and founder of Dallas’ own Undermain Theatre, Bruce DuBose who will don Middle Earth robes to become the wizard Gandalf and will narrate from Tolkien’s famous tales during movements from The Lord of the Rings.

“We are thrilled that Mr. DuBose is joining us!” said Christopher Tucker, LSWO Director of Artistic Planning. “This concert will be fun for adults and kids of all ages!”

General admission is $20; discounted senior and student tickets are $10; group discounts are also available. Visit www.lonestarwindorchestra.com or call 800.838.3006 to purchase your tickets.
