Put on your boots, wear your hat, grab a friend and come join the Lone Star Wind Orchestra (LSWO) as it kicks off its fun-filled eighth season! The concert will be Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dallas City Performance Hall in Dallas, Texas.
The program, titled Deep in the Heart, will feature Aaron Copland’s Hoe Down from Rodeo, Donald Grantham’s Baron Samedi’s Sarabande (and Soft Shoe), Morton Gould’s Fanfare for Freedom, Kyle Kindred’s Variations on a Tango and Friedrich Gulda’s Cello Concerto. The program will also feature a world premiere by our very own Christopher Tucker! The Lone Star Wind Orchestra will be led by Music Director and Conductor Eugene Migliaro Corporon and will feature Nikola Ruzevic on the cello along with Robert Hokamp and Mike Tidwell on the guitar.
Come early and join the LSWO trombone section at 2:05 p.m. as they showcase the various trombones and the instrument’s abilities, including a unique attribute – the slide glissando!
“We are very excited to start another season,” said Christopher Tucker, LSWO’s Director of Artistic Planning. “We have put together an exciting season, and we look forward to the community coming out to listen to our talented musicians.”
