The 2026 Audition Application Process is now OPEN. The Lone Star Wind Orchestra is looking for a flute, trumpet, and trombone to join our active roster.
AUDITION CALENDAR
LSWO Audition Application is Due: Wednesday, September 23, 2026 by 11:30pm.
Applicants who make it to the final round will be notified by Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Final Round Live Auditions: Saturday, October 3, 2026 starting at 1pm.
Final Round Location: Pearce High School Band Hall, Richardson, Texas
LSWO Audition Items to Consider
- Musicians receive music for an upcoming concert no later than two weeks prior to the first rehearsal.
- Musicians are compensated for participation in each concert cycle.
- Three rehearsals typically proceed a concert. Musicians must attend all three rehearsals in order to take part in that concert cycle. Rehearsal/concert dates for the 26/27 season on the application form (Please note that contracted musicians must attend 2 of the 3 concerts every season to maintain active musician status):
LSWO Audition Process
Review our mission and vision statements and our guiding principles. Requesting an audition represents your acceptance of the aforementioned.
The Lone Star Wind Orchestra audition process consists of two rounds – an application and materials review followed by a final live audition.
Round One:
Complete, attach requested files, and submit the LSWO Audition Application Form.
Attachments requested:
1. Performance Vita (PDF format only; 1 MB max; 2 pages max)
2. Audio Demonstrating Technical Proficiency (*mp3 format only; 2 MB max)
3. Audio Demonstrating Lyrical Proficiency (*mp3 format only; 2 MB max)
*Note: A 2 MB mp3 equates to about 1-1/2 minutes of recorded music. Recorded music must be “unedited” recordings. Your excerpts should not contain etudes. It is suggested that your excerpts consist of solos with piano, orchestra or wind band excerpts.
A panel of LSWO musicians and staff will review your materials. A decision will be rendered of which applicants are invited to the final live audition round. Some applicants that are not passed through may be offered a concert sub position. Results will be announced via E-mail correspondence with any necessary details.
Round Two:
If invited to the final live audition round, you will be given the audition date and time. Each audition will last 10 minutes. Final round audition applicants will perform excerpts from the PDF packet. These materials will need to be prepared for the audition.
Musician Sheet Music Packet:
In addition, you may be asked to sight-read several passages and participate in a question and answer session.
Please, be on time for your appointment. A room will be provided for you to warm-up before your audition.
You will be notified via E-mail of the results of your final live round audition.
